The Oddly Championship: The Alternative League Table, according to the odds
Last updated: by Liam Reaney
We’ve rebuilt the Championship table using pre-match betting odds from 20 major bookmakers to show how the season would look if every match had gone the way the bookies expected.
By taking the average full-time result odds before each game, we calculated which team was the favourite and used that to create the Oddly Championship by Best Betting Sites.
The resulting league table shows which teams are most under and overrated by the bookies. If the bookies favourite had always won, where would your team be?

Every month, we update the Oddly Championship table based on the games just gone.
How the Table Differs
If pre-match odds had been correct every week, the Championship table would look dramatically different. Some sides have outperformed all expectations, while others have fallen well short of what bookmakers predicted. Here’s a breakdown of who’s overachieving, who’s underachieving, and which teams are performing exactly to form.
Over Achievers
Hull City
Hull have defied the bookies more than anyone else on the list. Big home wins against underperforming Southampton and Leicester sides have helped Hull on their way to 16 more points than expected.
Preston North End
Upsets against the likes of Leicester, Middlesbrough and Derby have made Preston one of the season’s biggest surprise packages, with 14 points more than pre-match odds suggested.
QPR
Four unexpected away wins helped QPR earn 13 more points than the odds predicted.
Under Achievers
Ipswich Town
Ipswich are the biggest underperformers according to the bookies, with 26 points fewer than the odds suggested. Pre-match odds predicted the Tractor Boys to lose just once this season, when in reality they’ve lost 5.
Southampton
24 points behind their expected total. The Saints were expected to make a push for an immediate return to the Premier League but instead sit in the bottom half of the table.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United are currently 19 points worse off than the Oddly table suggests. Replacing Rubén Sellés with Chris Wilder has done little to stop the rot, with the Blades currently 18th.
