The top and bottom ends of the La Liga table are starting to take shape as we approach the first international break. We’ve looked at the outright winner and relegation betting markets and the latest odds on offer, bringing punters our predictions along with a few outsider bets we think could return value over the rest of the season.
La Liga Winner Predictions
The usual suspects head the top bookmakers‘ latest odds in the outright winners market. We’ve taken a closer look at a few teams to dig out value for those who are just now putting together their outright season accas or looking at a long-term wager.

Barcelona
Unsurprisingly, betting sites have given Barcelona extremely short odds in the winners market at just 2/9. After a perfect start to their league campaign with 31 goals scored, with 12 of those coming from star man Raphinha, it’s hard to argue otherwise.
Given the struggles of Real Madrid, which we’ll go on to look at in a minute, betting against Barcelona this season would be a wild gamble – instead, if you’re backing them, look at adding them as part of an outright accumulator.

Real Madrid
You already know that if Barcelona’s odds are remarkably short for this stage of the season, something isn’t quite right at Real Madrid. Priced at 100/30 by bookmakers and sitting in 4th, 6 points behind the leaders, it’s not been the perfect start to life back in Madrid for Jose Mourinho.
While they haven’t exactly been bad, there’s really no room for error when Barcelona are in this form. We’re avoiding them on all wagers at this stage of the season; even Mbappe at 6/5 to be top scorer looks a dodgy bet given Raphinha’s start.
Real Betis
Looking to improve on their 5th place finish last season is Real Betis, who have just one defeat from their first seven fixtures and look like they will comfortably challenge for Europe again. With that being said, we can’t see them putting up a title challenge, and the bookies agree, pricing them at 100/1.
We think there’s some serious value for Betis in the winners without Barcelona and Real Madrid market, where they’re priced at 5/2 and look set to have only Atletico to beat this season – no mean feat, but definitely possible for a side that splashed over £20 million on transfers in the summer.

La Liga Relegation Predictions
A few teams are already starting to be cut adrift at the bottom of the table, and the bookies’ odds reflect it. While there’s no sure thing, especially not at this stage of the season, we analyse the favourites to go down and our betting tips on whether we’d back them or not at their current price.

Malaga
Sometimes a team, like Hull in the Premier League, gets promoted through the play-offs, is written off by everyone in pre-season and then proves everyone wrong – that team is not Malaga. Zero wins from seven, and a grand total of 300k spent in the summer on a loan signing from a team in the division below shows exactly why the bookies have them as 4/7 favourites to go down.
The returns barely make it worth it, but if you’re looking for a safe bet on the relegation markets this season in any league, this is about as good as it gets.
Racing Santander
While Racing Santander don’t occupy the relegation zones currently, the bookmakers don’t think it will be long until they do, with short odds of 6/5. While they have a two-point ‘cushion’ over Elche in 18th, it’s the goals conceded column that punters should be looking at. 21 goals conceded in seven fixtures, including 7-2 and 5-0 hammerings in their last two games, point to it being a long season ahead for this promoted side.
Definitely a team whose odds you should watch over the first half of the season. If the teams around them continue to struggle, the odds might drift further – keep an eye out for value here, as we think they will go down but aren’t quite worth backing at the current price.
Valencia
Are Valencia too big to go down? The bookmakers seem to think so, with their latest price of 4/1 for relegation. But we think there’s definitely trouble brewing at the Mestalla this year, similar to the 2022-23 season when they almost dropped down a division.
This is the worst start in Valencia’s history. Yes, they’ve had to play Barcelona, Betis, Sociedad and Sevilla – but that’s compounded by plenty going on off the pitch too, with infighting over owner Peter Lim, uncertainty over who takes charge of coaching, and fan protests all adding to the unrest. The recipe for a perfect storm is brewing, and we recommend punters jump on this price before things get even worse for the club.
