Love Island Series 7 star Kaz Kamwi sits down with the Best Betting Sites team to chat all things Love Island. In this exclusive interview, Kaz shares her unexpected Premier League crush, whether she’d return to the villa for All Stars, her thoughts on the new series and its islanders, and what advice she’d give to the finalists about dealing with fame when they leave the villa.
Love Island & Football
Unexpected crush
Right. So I’ve really been locked in on Arsenal because my TikTok is full of it. My brother’s a United fan, so he’s been preying on Arsenal’s downfall, so I’ve been rooting for Arsenal.
I really love Gabriel. Gabriel, Gabriel. I love him. I literally see his, like, videos come up on my Instagram. I’m like, I’m such a fan. I’m like, be my friend, please.
Don’t worry about missing that penalty, I love you Gabriel (laughs)!
Returning to the Villa
Would you like to return to the villa for Love Island: All Stars?
The Villa antics now that the Americans are here, I’m like, hello. Yep. Sign. Me. Up. There’s a few American men out there that I fancy – they bring a different kind of vibe to the British and Irish guys.
I feel like in general, even when I’ve travelled or on holiday, I’m always like you guys are just different! I like it. I was so jealous of the girls in All Stars.
I was sat there and I was like, I missed it. Can you put me in there now? Because what do you mean American men are there and I’m not there? Sorry. It’s not fair (laughs).
What I like about it is that you learn more about their culture, and even though we speak the same language, the words that we use and the way that we speak is totally different – it’s a different vibe, and I’m here for it.
When I hear the accent, I’m in love.
Would you be up for going on Love Island: After Sun or the podcast?
I did the podcast before. I’d go in as a filling guest. So, I did it alongside Amy and India and I just pop in on different days and it was a lot of fun. And I’ve gone to After Sun as a guest, but I’ve not had any conversation about being on the panel. That would be tea, though. I reckon I would smash it.
The New Series
What are your thoughts on the new series?
It’s so fresh. It feels like I’m watching a whole new show. It was nothing like my one; nighttime entrances. I said, this is tea. You get to come in wearing a sexy outfit, you don’t have to worry about your makeup melting in the sun. Those lucky girls have no idea what that feels like. I’m so jealous. And I liked how they had the boys and the girls come in together. That was nice because then it just breaks the ice, breaks tension.
It’s like being in a club and meeting someone for the first time. So, I thought the nighttime entrance is actually better than the daytime. And I also liked that it was the boys and the girls on the Jeeps together coming in.
I feel whoever you come in the villa with, you always have, like, a little bond. So, it just makes it nice for the friendships as well. The bombshells at the end, what a twist. I’m watching it shouting at the TV, “What do you mean?” Are we watching Love Island or Hunger Games right now? Because it’s so Game of Thrones, and I love that!
There’s only been one episode, so it’s hard to comment, but who do you think is going to be trouble in there?
Lorenzo. And I love Lorenzo at the minute. Lorenzo is my favourite. And the flag, because I’m like, I can’t. Sometimes he’s green, sometimes he’s red. I feel like I’m flipping him every 10 minutes. I’m like, oh, this conversation. He was such a green flag. This conversation is such a red flag (laughs).
What about the other Islanders?
I love Samraj, I think he’s so handsome. Of course. He’s a model. He’s got the dimples. But the fact that he speaks four languages, he just seems so kind. So, I really like him. He’s one of my faves.
And I absolutely love Mica. I think she’s so funny and she’s just so sweet. She’s got such a nice smile and she’s always smiling. So, when she comes on the screen, I’m like, I want to be your friend.
Love Angelista. I love the fact that she was like, I don’t do activities. I said, me too. Bring back just having a nice dinner, like a nice meal.
Life After the Villa
What advice would you give to the finalists, whoever they are, in terms of dealing with the fame when you get out of the villa?
I would say any intensity that they might feel on leaving the villa will be gone within a week. When I first came out, I took a break from socials for about two weeks, because I remember just being like, this is too overwhelming.
But, after All Stars, I learned it’s okay to just keep living your life through the intensity because you still have your friends, you’ve got your family, you’ve got your home comforts. And I think it’s important to still remember that you do have a base and people you can rely on because I think it can get really overwhelming because you have people coming at you from all directions.
Obviously, you’ve got your friends and your family giving their opinions and stuff.
If you come as a finalist, you’ve come up with a partner, and if they’re your boyfriend, lucky you. If they’re not, everyone’s going to be like ‘when will you put your label on it, when are you going to do this,’ and if they’re your boyfriend, it’s like ‘when are you getting married and when are you having kids,’ there’s always going to be pressure in any direction.
I would say to them, genuinely, to just enjoy each moment as it comes and remember that the intense waves, because you do get them, will fade away as well.
Focus on as much of the positive as you can and also take any opportunities that come with it. Keep being yourself because when you’re yourself, people will really get to know you outside of the show as well. I think we forget that people have watched us. People have watched when you meet them and they say something. I’m like, ‘how’d you know that?’ Then you’re like, oh, obviously, because you’ve watched the show, and if you haven’t watched it back, then you don’t actually know what people have seen.
I haven’t watched my series back. I don’t know everything that people know. I just remember my experiences on there. So weird. But sometimes I see myself on TikTok, and I’m like, I argue like that. Wow!
