The two youngest managers in the Premier League face each other in Tuesday night’s London derby. This will be the second meeting in less than a month for the two, the Blues beat Arsenal at their own ground last time, the visitors will be looking to avenge that defeat. Will London be red or blue?

Chelsea has been a very inconsistent side so far, this season. Brilliant in their 2-0 win at Spurs, poor in loses at Stamford Bridge against Bournemouth, Southampton, and West Ham. Last weekend’s defeat, despite dominating against Newcastle, has been typical. Chelsea’s young side can turn on the style but show inexperience, this was evident by the lack of patience in their weekend loss, especially when things didn’t seem to go their way despite doing everything right.

Late goals by Jorginho and Abraham sealed the 2 – 1 win late when Chelsea and Arsenal last met and Frank Lampard will be hoping for the same result on their own turf. In that game, the Blue’s manager started with a much more defensive approach with five at the back but you expect a different approach with Chelsea keen to explot the shakey defence of their opponents, especially with the quality of attacking players they have. Chelsea has won three of the last five games against the weekend rivals including the 4 – 1 win in the finals of the UEFA Europa League. Tammy Abraham is their target man with 13 goals with his team, never losing when he scores.

Mikel Arteta has achieved so much in the short time he has been in charge at Arsenal, getting his message to his players in how he wants them to play. However, despite the attack prowess of his team, it is the fragility of the defence that is causing problems. Fans of the club who used to sing “1-0 to the Arsenal” are just as likely to be singing about a score draw or a defeat. Arsenal struggle to see out a lead. This has happened thrice in the 2 – 1 loss to Chelsea, 1 – 1 draw to Palace and last weekend’s draw to Sheffield United.

The Gunners are unbeaten in three matches (winning one and drawing two) and unbeaten in five games on the road. There is however still questions about the general quality throughout the side. A very good comparison would be how many Arsenal first eleven players are good enough to feature in the Liverpool or Man City starting line ups. He would need a busy window to bring in more quality to add on what he got, especially in the defensive and midfield that seems lacking.

One player who is catching the eye is Gabriel Martinelli. The young striker excelled against Sheffield United and great positional awareness that was reminiscent of Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero. The eighteen-year-old Brazilian has scored ten goals in his 24 appearances for Arsenal this year. His Europa League performances have been especially impressive, scoring three in four starts. Although sometimes used as an attacking midfielder on both flanks (six times), his stats when used as a forward are impressive, two games, two goals and a match rating of 8.2.

Conclusion & Betting Tips

A tight match to call between two great sides managed by the youngest managers in the league. Both teams have defensive problems but have great attacking players in their sides, it’s hard to imagine a goal-less draw in this one!

We have a sneaky feeling that Arsenal will win this one, the victory against Manchester United, who were unbeaten against the “big six” before then, probably didn’t receive the recognition it deserved. Chelsea have goals in them though, therefore, both teams to score seems almost a formality. LV BET are offering 7/12 on this, just one of the 363 bet types the bookmaker accepts for this fixture.
