As a team we were looking forward to putting Mr Green’s app to the test. We have long been players at their online casino site and found their mobile offering to be one of the best in the business. They introduced new ideas and similar to the impact that Paddy Power had on the online sports betting industry, Mr Green inspired innovation within the online casino market. Can they repeat this successes with sports betting?

Get Started with the Mr Green App

Getting up and running with the Mr Green app couldn’t be simpler! Using the camera app of your mobile phone scan the QR code that we provide at the top of the screen for you. You will be asked if you want to open the app store, select yes and click on the install button.

The whole process takes less than two minutes and if you already have an account, then you can use your existing details to log into the Mr Green app. If you are new to Mr Green you can create a new account directly from the app just by clicking the orange sign up button that is displayed in the lower left corner of the app.

What Can I Find in the Mr Green Sportsbook App

Once you launch the Mr Green app you will probably notice that not all sports are available to bet on with the company choosing a quality over quantity approach. This will not be an issue for most people but if you tend to bet on more obscure sports then another site such as bet365 would be more suitable.

Sports covered are football, horse racing, tennis, cricket, darts, motorsport, basketball, snooker, golf, rugby union, baseball, volleyball, boxing and UFC/MMA. Noticeable omissions include athletics and rugby league.

App Design and Navigation

It is hardly a surprise that we found the Mr Green sportsbook app easy to navigate. After all Mr Green claimed the 2016 International Gaming Awards (IGA) title of Mobile Operator of the Year, so it was always going to be functional and work well.

There is a handy search function at the top of the screen. This functionality is surprisingly missing on many sports betting apps so it’s great to see this here. Using the search you can instantly find the sporting event you are looking for without having to delve into submenus.

If you prefer to browse, the markets are hidden until you press the markets button. This splits the screen and from here you can choose between live betting, instant tennis, jackpot bets, starting soon and promotions. Below this list is a selection of popular categories with horse racing and Premier League fixtures featuring strongly here. You can scroll to the bottom to select a sport directly and see all available markets from there.

Live Betting and Streaming

Whilst the Mr Green app doesn’t stream any live events directly to customers, this isn’t exactly a deal breaker for most punters, but it is a bit of a surprise for an established brand. Instead of live video, Mr Green uses brightly coloured icons to keep you up to date with events taking place.

This is done surprisingly well, for football matches it is almost like watching a football manager game with key moments in the game displayed as text. Different graphics are used for different events such as shot on goal, shot off target etc.

What we like about this format is the level of statistical data you always have at your fingertips. Without even clicking, you can see score line, yellow and red cards, time and scorers. Click on the statistics icon and you can see detailed information on match events such as number of attacks, number of dangerous attacks, shots on target and shots off target.

Bonus Offers for Mr Green App Users

There were no special promotions aimed exclusively for Mr Green mobile app users at time of writing this review, but new customers can take advantage of the bet £10 get a free £10 Acca promotion that the operator runs. New players who place a qualifying bet of £10 or more will receive a free bet that must be used on an accumulator bet of three selections or more.

If you enjoy online casino then you may find the welcome bonus more generous for casino, as the Mr Green mobile app has both sport betting and casino there is no need to download a separate app. If you deposit and wager £20, Mr Green will match your next deposit up to £100 and give you 200 bonus spins on slots. Often casino welcome bonuses have more conditions attached to them compared to sports betting, so ensure you read the terms and conditions, especially regarding wagering requirement.

Betslip and Minimum Bet

The good design choices in the app make it very easy to add selections to your betting slip. Events that are currently on are shown on the home screen of the app, so it takes seconds to add a popular selection. Multiples can be easily selected by clicking on the combination tab.

What sets Mr Green apart from other online betting sites is the low minimum bet amount of 1p. Some bookmakers have this set a lot higher, even as high as 50p and this can seriously limited the types of bets you can place.

A goliath bet which contains 741 bets containing Doubles, Trebles, Four-Folds, Five-Folds, Six-Folds, 8 Seven-Folds and an 8-fold Accumulator would cost £7.41. The same bet at bet365 who have a 5p minimum bet would cost you £37.05. So this is a consideration if betting on a budget.

Transactions & More

With over a decade of offering online services to customers, this is a section that Mr Green was always going to excel in. They have a good range of payment options to fund your account.

Visa and Mastercard debit cards are accepted but be aware of the 2.5% fee on debit card transactions. Direct bank transfer is available via Trustly and takes usually 24 hours to complete. E-wallets are catered for with Neteller and Skrill both being supported as well as Paysafecard.

The minimum deposit amount is £5.

In our test chat, it was answered very quickly and overall was a good customer experience.

Mr Green App: iOS & Android Requirements

As long as you own a relatively new mobile then you’ll have no issues running the Mr Green app download. Apple phone owners need to be on iOS 9.1 and above and can download the app from Apple’s App Store. Plenty of fantastic mobile apps for UK punters exist in the App Store, read more about them.

Android users need to be on at least Marshmallow (6.0) operating system and can download the app direct from the Mr Green website. Android users will need to allow the phone to allow the download by navigating to settings, selecting security and checking the option “unknown sources”. To stay safe ensure you turn this setting off after installing the Mr Green app.

  • Android Mr Green mobile app on Android Android OS 4.4 or later.

  • iPhone and iPad Mr Green mobile app on iPhone iOS Version: iOS 9.1 or later.

Even though not officially supported, users of older devices such as Blackberry and Nokia phones running Symbian OS may still be able to access sports betting at Mr Green by using the browser built into the devices. However, as this app takes advantage of security features such as fingerprint recognition if your device supports it. It may be time for an upgrade if you intend to bet online a lot.

The Mr Green sports betting platform review will confirm this is a solid and robust service. The use of large icons make betting on the move easy, even under demanding situations. The app has the feel of being web based and in our testing it was prone to loading slowly on a few occasions. So if time critical bets are part of your strategy then there are better options, this also applies if your internet speed is not the best.

  • Mr Green Mobile App Pros & Cons
  • First class technology
  • Excellent betting interface
  • Redefined betting process
  • Supreme customer support
  • Hard to profit from bonus
  • No exchange betting

While overall, we liked the design of the app, we didn’t like how the betting slip when filled, took up the whole of the mobile screen, meaning we had to close the betting slip to continue making selections. It would have been so much easier if the selections only took up half the screen and scrolled instead. Not a big factor, just annoying. The app features all the functionality of the Mr Green mobile website.

We are big fans of penny betting and Mr Green’s 1p minimum bet even on accumulators is music to our ears. Big multiples are no longer the reserve of the high rollers and enhance the possibility of making a return. For that reason alone, we recommend the Mr Green app download. Q&A Regarding the Mr Green Mobile App

These are some of the frequently asked questions regarding the Mr Green sports betting app.

I have placed a bet but don’t see a cash out option?

The cash out option is not available on all bets and you’ll only see the option if it is applicable to your bet. A lot of factors can influence this and it is not unusual to see a bet become available for a short while before disappearing again.

I’m trying to place a bet during an event but the app won’t let me!

When placing a sporting bet online there is a short delay between placing the bet and it being accepted. If the odds change due to an event taking place the bet will not be accepted and you will have to confirm the new odd prices. Sometimes markets are temporarily suspended, after a delay, they will return.

Why is the amount I can bet limited?

Normally you can bet as much or as little as you want. However, on rare occasions, the traders may impose minimum or maximum bet. This can change from event to event.
