LeoVegas Mobile App Reviewed

Despite being relatively new players, LeoVegas have built a good reputation in the online casino and sports betting world and scooped the ‘Brand of the Year’ at the 2018 EGR M&I Awards. The company also took the ‘Innovation in Mobile & Tablet’ award so it is fair to say that the expectations of this app couldn’t be higher. In our impartial review, we put the LeoVegas mobile app through its paces and give you the hard facts. Is this truly a game changer or are there better options out there?

In our comprehensive review, we will be testing all the features of the app. What sets this one apart from the competition? Is it easy to navigate? Is it easy to use? What sports are featured? Can I watch live events on my mobile? What payment methods are accepted? What is the minimum bet amount? These questions and many, many more are what we will be asking. To find out how LeoVegas fared, read on. Firstly, let’s take a look at the basics in the getting started section.

Getting Started

We try and make the downloading and installing of the app as easy as possible for you. That is why we have included an incredibly useful QR code at the top of this page for you to use. Simply launch the camera on your mobile or tablet and point it at the QR code. Almost instantly your device will recognise the code and ask if you wish to open the link. Once confirmed you will be taken to the landing page in the relevant App store. While on that page you can find information such as the version and any new updates that have been released. You can also see reviews of that customers have left. Uniquely for an online betting product, the reviews are almost all positive with a rating of 4.3, this is almost unheard of so is a positive start. Once you are happy to download, just click the install button at the top right of the screen. This button will change to the word open when it is installed, click that to launch the LeoVegas app. If you are an existing customer, you can enter your details after clicking the orange “LOG IN” button. New customers can use it to create a new account, this was easy to do, and we were able to select the sports welcome bonus. A feature we really liked was having the live chat button available during the sign-up process, so any questions could be asked immediately. This is a sensible addition and we wouldn’t be surprised to see other bookmakers copy this approach.

What Can I Find in the LeoVegas Sportsbook App

The same markets that can be found at LeoVegas’s website can also be found using the app and we are confident that you’ll find everything you need here. The number of sports is huge with over 36 being listed. The top sports such as football, horse racing, greyhound racing, tennis and boxing all feature prominently on the main screen but more obscure sports such as bandy, floorball, surfing and trotting can all be accessed with just a couple of taps. There are many services for those in need of optimisation, check out the most popular UK sportsbook apps for details.

App Design and Navigation

With LeoVegas’s bright orange branding we must admit to expecting their app to be a very colourful and loud affair, but it isn’t. Thankfully, they have taken the sensible approach of preferring functionality and readability over self-promotion and the result is a product that is incredibly clean and easy to use. We mentioned in the introduction about a killer feature and the way you browse markets may well just be its unique selling point.

One of our biggest gripes is having too many irrelevant bets taking up the screen estate. Trying to place a bet 5 minutes before a 3pm kick-off and seeing ice hockey bets is something that irks us. The LeoVegas mobile app overcomes this by allowing you to browse sports and only return the categories that apply, such a simple idea but it works so well. An example of how this is useful follows; we want to place a bet on a tennis match that is taking place. Clicking on “Browse Sports” and tennis is at the top, click that and all the tours that are available are shown. There are seven events taking place but all we are interested in is the ATP doubles finals. Once clicked the only bets offered are for that event. You can also mix your sports, so I could request Belgium league football and American football and it would just return exact matches. As an added bonus you can make sports and events your favourites and can access these by clicking on the star icon, another good touch. Want to discover more, see the LeoVegas sportsbook review page for further clarification.

Live Betting and Streaming

When we first took a look at the mobile app a few months ago there was no live streaming option. This has now changed with the company stating they offer over 5,000 events each year. The problem with this claim is we have found it almost impossible to validate. When reviewing the app there was no live streaming available and when we contacted customer support to ask them to clarify which sports would be shown, the customer service was at best vague when he stated he had no idea. We asked if any horse racing would be shown but again, he just advised that “there is more stuff than just football”.

Luckily Google seemed to know much more than the LeoVegas customer service member and one sport that we found which was streamed is greyhound racing. The platform uses the Kambi sports betting platform. That means action from 18 UK tracks are streamed from 10:30 am till 11:00 pm. The next day we put this theory to the test and low and behold it is there but it’s hard to find! From the main page click “Browse Sports”, then tap “More” in the top right of the app. Then select Greyhound from the list. Then you need to click on greyhound again and it finally brings the races up. Next to the clock that shows the off time is the smallest play icon, click that to launch the stream. This really needs to be reconsidered as live streaming should be a focal point of their app, it’s strange they don’t publicise it.

Bonus Offers for LeoVegas App Users

A decent online bookmaker doesn’t rest on their laurels and will offer promotions and bonuses that will attract new customers and keep existing ones happy. The new customer offer for sports betting is a good one as it allows you to double your winnings on your first bet up to a maximum of £100. Any promotion that has an element of judgement in it is always good in our books. The maximum stake for this qualifying bet is £10. The winnings are capped at £100 and is valid for 30 days and terms and conditions apply.

Betslip and Minimum Bet

How the online mobile app deals with the betting slip can make or break the experience. With the smaller screens of mobile devices, it means if it is not done correctly it can make placing multiple bets on the go very difficult. We prefer the betting slip to hide away when not needed but be easily assessable when needed, allowing us to concentrate on the markets. So, we were initially disappointed when we made our first selection and the betting slip took up over half the screen. However, it redeemed itself as when you click to minimise the betting slip, it stays minimised until you click the easy to see “Betslip” icon at the bottom of the page. The layout of the betting slip is fine with almost Kindle type display with black ink on a white background that is easy to read. It is also easy to switch between singles, combination (acca) and system bets. The minimum bet amount can vary on the different markets but is typically 10p which is a reasonable amount.

Transactions & More

As a company that prides itself on being part of the mobile generation, you would expect LeoVegas to cater for the modern trends of funding your betting account. Once again they prove a point by being one of the few online betting sites that accept Apple Pay. As this payment process is deeply imbedded in the Apple ecosystem it should prove a fast and very secure method of funding your account.

LeoVegas App: iOS & Android Requirements

The LeoVegas app download is available on all platforms, so whether you have an Android, iPhone or an iPad you will be fine. The app needs to be on iOS 8 for Apple products so that means even older devices such as the iPhone 4s and first-generation iPads should work. You won’t be able to take advantage of the added security of Touch ID on these devices though. Android users need to be on at least Marshmallow (6.0) and if you are running on any operating system below the current Oreo (8.0) you may need to allow the download in your security settings.

  • Android LeoVegas mobile app on Android Android OS 4.0.3 or later.

  • iPhone and iPad LeoVegas mobile app on iPhone and iPad iOS Version: Requires iOS 8.0 or later

Even if you have a device that isn’t an Android or Apple phone you should be still able to place bets by using your browser and visiting the LeoVegas mobile website. This works for older phones such as Windows mobiles and Nokia phones which have their own apps that are not Android compatible.

Final Remarks on the LeoVegas App

LeoVegas have produced a top-notch sports betting app in our opinion. It is beautifully designed and has a superfast interface that makes the betting experience quick and painless. The lack of branding in the design was a stroke of genius from them and the result is that crisp look and it doesn’t distract the user from the task in hand.

We love being able to filter out unwanted markets and building our own personalised lists. At the top of the list, you can press the stats button and that will give you information about the market. For example, if you chose La Liga it displays the league table and also a list of top scorers, number of assists and the cards market. On the downside, we found the lack of information on live streamed events frustrating. This was compounded with the feeling that we knew more about the product than the customer service representative did but in fairness to them, subsequent chats proved more helpful. We did notice that the Live Chat functionality of the app was a bit hit and miss. We would try it and could only leave a message with a 24-hour turnaround time but if we tried the LeoVegas mobile website we received a session almost immediately.

Overall, we believe the LeoVegas app is excellent. It has the feel of a modern, forward-looking company who understand the needs of its customers. It isn’t perfect, but you will struggle to find a better online sports betting product, highly recommended.

Q&A Regarding the LeoVegas Mobile App

These are some of the common questions about the LeoVegas betting app.

Why is there a delay between live streaming compared to the TV coverage?

All live events are subject to a slight delay in broadcast, this is the same for all online sports betting sites. The delay shouldn’t usually be any longer than 10 – 15 seconds.

Are there enough sports markets on the LeoVegas app?

Yes, there are the same as on the desktop version of the LeoVegas sportsbook. This is fantastic news and means you can have the same experience on the app.

Is it easy to cash out my bets early?

Cashing out is not always available but when it is, it is really easy to cash out. In the app there is an icon at the bottom of the screen that is always there titled “Open Bets“, click on that and eligible bets will be shown with a cash-out value. This can be lower or higher than your stake.
