Tottenham are in pretty good form. Spurs are on a run of 4 consecutive victories (all competitions). They beat Colchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup and proceeded to the 1/8 finals. Moreover, Spurs have scored 13 goals in their last 4 games and have conceded just 5.
Watford had a difficult task in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Hornets had to visit Nottingham Forest. They were lucky to beat Forest in the very last minute of the game after a horrible mistake by Nottingham’s defence. Odion Ighalo was in the right place to find the net with a one-touch shot from a short distance.
Tottenham won 2-1 against Watford earlier this season. Spurs were lucky to earn the three points in the 89th minute of the match. Heung-Min Son’s back heel shot was crucial in Watford’s endeavour for the points. In fact, Tottenham are on a run of 4 consecutive victories over Watford. The last time The Hornets won against Spurs was in 1987 (1-0 at Vicarage Road). So, the expectation is another victory for Tottenham, but the match won’t be easy for Pochettino’s players.
Mario Suarez of Fiorentina, Costel Pantilimon of Sunderland and Obbi Oulare of Club Brugge are among Watford’s new signings during the winter transfer window.
Lloyd Doyley is injured for Watford. The veteran defender is suffering from a neck injury. He hasn’t made a single appearance this season.
Vertonghen and N’Jie are on Spurs’ injury list. The Belgian defender is suffering from a knee injury, as is the Cameroonian midfielder.
There are no new major signings in Tottenham’s squad. Spurs are competitive enough and they can qualify for participation in The C.L. next season.
