The Potters against The Toffees
Last updated: February 3, 2016 by Leon Marshal
|Venue:||The King Power Stadium|
|Coverage:||Sky Sports 1, BBC 5 Live|
|Competition:||The Premier League|
These two teams put on a great show in December, when Stoke won 4-3 at Goodison Park. Xherdan Shaqiri opened the scoring for Stoke in the 16th minute. Then, Lukaku equalized 6 minutes later. Shaqiri gave Stoke the lead again just before the end of the first half. In the second half of the match, Everton turned things around with Lukaku’s and Deulofeu’s goals, but eventually The Potters won with two late goals. The question is: can these two teams repeat this great performance?
Bad news for Stoke’s manager Mark Hughes. His top goal-scorer Marko Arnautovic has a hamstring problem and will miss the match against The Toffees. The Austrian forward has scored 7 goals in 21 matches for Stoke this season.
Everton succeeded in the fourth round of The FA Cup, winning 3-0 against Carlisle United. That was their first victory in their last 5 competitive games. Arouna Kone, Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley scored for The Toffees. On the other hand, Stoke City were eliminated from the tournament after a defeat by Crystal Palace (1-0). This means The Eagles will only be focused on their performance in The Premier League.
Tony Hibbert is still injured for Everton. The defender is suffering from a knee injury and hasn’t taken part in a match this season.
The forward Marko Arnautovic, Geoff Cameron, Shay Given, Marc Wilson and the defender Ryan Shawcross are also injured for Stoke City.
The Potters’ midfielder Charlie Adam is suffering from a calf muscle strain. He is expected to return to the pitch within a month.
Tyias Browning is injured for The Toffees. The 21-year-old Englishman is suffering from a knee injury. He has made 5 appearances in The Premier League this season.
