Newcastle United need points! Rafael Benitez’ players are lying in 19th place in the standings of The Premier League with 25 points collected. They are 6 points behind 17th-placed Norwich City and The Magpies will only be thinking about the three points against Swansea City on Saturday. Newcastle are on a nightmare run of 6 matches without a victory in The Premier League. They lost 5 of these matches. Rafael Benitez’ players have shown an awful performance in defence, having conceded 12 goals.
Furthermore, Swansea City are in outstanding form. The Swans won their last match at The Liberty Stadium against Chelsea 1-0. Gylfi Sigurdsson proved again he is the team leader. He scored the only goal of the match in the 25th minute. The midfielder is the team’s top goal-scorer with 11 goals. So, it won’t be a surprise if he finds the Magpies’ net on Saturday.
Newcastle United always struggle when playing against Swansea City. The Magpies have won only 2 of 11 games against The Swans. Moreover, Francesco Guidolin’s players have recorded 6 victories in the last 7 games between these two teams. So, The Swans are capable of winning the three points against Newcastle.
Leon Britton is the only injured player in Swansea City’s squad. He is suffering from a back injury and will be sidelined for the match against Newcastle United.
Karl Darlow has conceded 6 goals in Newcastle’s last 2 Premier League matches, but he is the only fit goalkeeper in the Magpies squad, so he will be among the starting XI again.
Coloccini, Marveaux and Haidara are also injured for Newcastle United. Fabricio Coloccini is suffering from a calf muscle strain.
Jack Colback, who has collected 10 yellow cards this season, missed Newcastle’s last two matches through suspension, but now he will be available for the game against Swansea.
