Game details

Kick-off: Saturday, 3pm
Venue: The Etihad Stadium
Coverage: Sky Sports 1, BBC 5 Live
Home form: WWDWL
Away form: WLDDW
Last meeting: 5-1
Competition: The Premier League

Manchester City have recorded a large number of victories against Crystal Palace in recent years, especially when the matches are at The Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have won 10 of 18 home games against The Eagles and have lost on only 3 occasions. Manchester City are on a run of 6 consecutive home victories against Crystal Palace and are obligated to earn another three points in order to stay in the battle for the title.

Both teams went through in The FA Cup after achieving victories last weekend. Crystal Palace managed to win 2-1 against Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium and qualified for the fourth round of the competition. Manchester City recorded a great 3-0 away victory against Norwich and earned extra confidence before the decisive Premier League matches.

The Citizens are in impressive form at home. They have won 8 of 10 matches so far and have scored 29 goals at The Etihad Stadium. That’s why it is very hard for the visiting teams to play against City at Manchester. So, The Eagles will have to do something special if they want to take something from their visit to Man City.

Team News

Vincent Kompany is the main omission for The Citizens. The Belgian defender has still not recovered from his calf-muscle strain.

Samir Nasri is also injured for Manchester City. The Frenchman has a hamstring problem and will return to the pitch in April.

The Crystal Palace forwards Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle are still injured. Wickham will return to full training at the end of the month, so he won’t take part in the game.

Yannick Bolasie and Kwesi Appiah are also injured. Bolasie is suffering from a calf-muscle strain and is expected to resume full training at the end of January.
