Last Meeting: Chelsea 2 – 0 Man City
Competition: EPL

Man City have recently returned to the top of the league, albeit with an extra game played, and know with a victory against the Blues, they will finish the weekend in first place to up the pressure on Liverpool. Chelsea on the other hand are looking to secure their position in fourth.

Despite their shock loss against Newcastle, City have bounced back with two impressive wins. First, they took care of Arsenal with an Aguero hat-trick propelling them to a 3-1 victory, then, they returned to the top of the table with a midweek 2-0 victory of Everton. This has truly amped up the pressure on Liverpool, who have seen a seven-point lead squandered. It is a testament to City’s squad and their experience that they have managed to bounce back so quickly.

Even so, Pep Guardiola will be wary of this match against the Blues. He has lost three times against them in his managerial career, more than any other team he has faced. They are truly his bogey team. What’s more, Mike Dean will be managing this one and is only one red-card away from the 100 milestone, so it won’t be surprising if he dole’s one out in the game. After all, he does love having an impact on the outcome of a game.

Chelsea come into this game on the back of a much-need confidence booster against Huddersfield. Gonzalo Higuain opened his account with a brace, and the Blues will be hoping he continues to link up well with Hazard. It marks the first big test for him, and he will be looking to prove to the world he is still an elite level player.

Chelsea are coming into the game remarkably healthy, with no injuries or suspensions to contend with. After Sarri’s tactics were beginning to come under fire, they showed what they are capable of in their previous game. Nevertheless, City are a much stronger adversary, and it remains to be seen if they can stand the test. If Chelsea really do want to make strides under their new boss, these are the types of games they have to show up for. Hopefully they do, and it could turn out to be a great game.

Conclusion & Betting Tips

This one could be a tense affair, even so City have been utterly dominant at home this year. What’s more, the past four games have produced a winner to nil. Look for the total goals by the away team to be under 0.5 at 888sport at odds of 5/2.
