Last Meeting: Arsenal 0 – 2 Man City
Competition: EPL

After their unexpected midweek loss to The Magpies, City will be looking to bounce back against Arsenal. They are now five points adrift from top spot and can’t afford any more mishaps. Arsenal on the other hand are looking to cling to the all important fourth place.

Despite their shock loss, City are actually in decent form, having won four of the past five Premier League games. What’s more, they have won their previous three games against Arsenal and will be hoping of more of the same on Sunday. City didn’t make any signings in January, but they didn’t really have any glaring needs. Their squad is still very strong and with star man Kevin de Bruyne now nearing full fitness, they will carry on improving.

They will also be looking for Sergio Aguero to carry on his splendid for against the Gunners as he has scored in seven of his last 11 matches against them. He is truly a big-game player so look for him to make a big impact in the game. The only major worry City have coming into this is the status of Ederson, as he suffered a deep cut against Newcastle midweek. Vincent Komany remains sidelined, although he probably wouldn’t have started anyway.

Arsenal completed the loan signing of Barcelona man Denis Suarez and will be hoping he can keep them on top in the battle for the final Champions League place. It looks as though they will have to fight Chelsea and Man Utd for it, although the Blues do look on the verge of capitulation after their midweek meltdown, even so, a good Arsenal performance here will certainly send a clear message to their rivals.

If they are to do this, Arsenal surely need to improve their PL away from, having lost 11 of their previous 19 games away from home, and only keeping one clean sheet in the process. This is a staggering piece of information and something that needs to be addressed if they have any serious ambitions of challenging the top clubs. Their defensive woes will continue, due to the lack of strengthening and injuries to star players like Hector Bellerin who is out for the season.
