Liverpool’s recent results are quite satisfying, so Jurgen Klopp can be happy with his players. Even though The Reds lost 0-1 to Stoke City in the second leg of the semi-finals, they qualified for the final of The Capital One Cup after winning on penalties. In addition, they showed great spirit, turning things around and winning 5-4 against Norwich in their last away Premier League game.

On the other hand, Sunderland are in good shape too. They’ve lost only 2 of their last 5 Premier League games. The Black Cats won 3-1 against Aston Villa at home and 4-2 against Swansea at The Liberty Stadium. Furthermore, Jermaine Defoe scored 5 goals in these games. The striker is Sunderland’s top goal-scorer with 12 goals from all competitions.

Liverpool won the three points in the previous meeting between these two teams. The Reds were lucky to beat The Black Cats 1-0 at The Stadium of Light. Christian Benteke scored the only goal of the game just a minute after the break. That was Liverpool’s second win in a row against Sunderland and now The Reds will be looking for a third.

Team News

Sam Allardyce bought the Ivorian defender Lamine Kone of Lorient. The new signing has recorded 18 appearances in The French Ligue 1 this season.

Dame N’Doye, Khazri, Kirchhoff and the goalkeeper Steve Harper also arrived at The Stadium of Light, while Steven Fletcher was loaned to Olympique Marseille.

Sebastian Larsson for Sunderland is still injured. The midfielder is suffering from a knee injury. He’s made 11 appearances this season.

Sturridge, Coutinho, Origi, Gomez and Ings are injured for Liverpool. Even though Daniel Sturridge was linked to a transfer deal, he remains in the Reds’ squad.
