Derby County are lying 4th in The Championship and they are just 7 points behind the leaders Hull City. The Rams are playing well this season, but their recent performance is not persuasive enough. They haven’t recorded a victory in 4 consecutive league matches. The Rams’ last victory in The Championship was on 26th December 2015, when they beat Fulham 2-0 and they were lucky, Fulham’s midfielder Hyndman scored an own goal in the 52nd minute of the game.

Manchester United showed a poor performance again when in their last match against Southampton they lost 0-1 at Old Trafford. The fans are really disappointed with the weakness in the Red Devils’ attack. Charlie Austin showed United’s strikers how they should finish an attack. The new Southampton signing scored with an excellent header late in the game and secured the 3 points for The Saints.

The Rams struggled against Hartlepool in the third round away from home, but eventually won the game 2-1. Gray scored with a great volley for Hartlepool in the 61st minute, but Derby’s players managed to turn things around. Butterfield (67’) and Darren Bent (85’) sent The Rams into the next round of the tournament.

Team News

Ashley Young is suffering from a pelvis injury. The midfielder is going to miss the next several matches for Manchester United.

Scottish international forward Chris Martin is Derby’s top goal-scorer in The Championship this season. The striker has found the net on 9 occasions in 26 games.
