Chelsea will be hoping to extend their recent run of form as they welcome Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge after his premature dismissal from the club last December. Emotions will be running high as ‘The Chosen One’ returns to the club where he won 3 Premier League titles and 2 FA Cups, only this time in United colours. Both Managers will surely be looking to make a big statement here; Conte will no doubt be looking to silence all the talk around his future at the club whilst Mouhrino will be aiming to build on his sides’ impressive 4-1 victory against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night. With plenty at stake in this weekend’s West London showdown, we are expecting a to see cracker of a game as two of the leagues’ top sides go head to head.
The recent history between the sides suggest that Chelsea have the upper hand going into this one. United have failed to beat the boys in blue in their last 10 meetings and Chelsea have won all of the last 5 fixtures at Stamford Birdge. Chelsea’s last two performances against defending Champions Leicester and 16th place Hull will also give them an extra boost. United will nevertheless fancy their chances as they enter this fixture having successfully shut-down an in-form Liverpool side on Monday night at Anfield. Their key summer signing Paul Pogba is starting to show his class more and more each week and Wayne Rooney played a hand in two of United’s goals against Fenerbahce as he made his first start in 4 games.
Conte’s decision to slightly alter Chelsea’s formation to 3 men at the back has worked wonders for his team so far. They produced a dominant display against Leicester last week in a fixture where they produced 3 goals and they were equally as convincing on the road against Hull the week before. We’re sure the Italian will stick with this working formation and look to ask questions of the Utd back 4.
Cesc Fabregas is looking hopeful ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Manchester Utd. The Spanish mimdfielder missed out on last weekend’s victory agaisnt Leicester due to a muscle injury however news from the Chelsea camp suggests that he’s recovered and will be considered for selection.
Kurt Zhouma, Willian Da Silva and Oscar Jr. are all expected to feature in Chelsea’s match day 18. Each player has been away on a period of absence due to personal reasons.
It’s looking likely that both Anthony Martial and Morgan Schneiderlin will be fit enough to be considered in the match day 18. Both players suffered slight knocks but it seems as though they’ll be ready in time for Saturday’s big clash.
Jose Mourinho has stated earlier this week that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back fit and is available for selection. The Armenian international has been unlucky with injury since his transfer from Dortmund this summer but is set to feature in their Europa League clash against Fenerbache.

- Chelsea have looked good in attack this season. Their top scorer Diego Costa is currently sitting at the top of the goal leader board with 7 from 8 games – Chelsea are currently in 4th position with 15.
- United have only have 1 victory from their last 5 outings in the Premier League. They’ll be hoping to find some of the form that saw them make a strong start to the campaign and get back to winning ways with a victory on the road this weekend.
- Conte’s men are just starting to gain some momentum again after a 3 game slump without a win. They’ve won their last 2 games against Hull and Leicester and kept clean sheets in both.
- United’s top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t scored in the Premier League since they went down 2-1 in the Manchester Derby last month. The Swedish international will surely be keen to get back to scoring ways and add to his tally for the season.

Conclusion & Betting Tips
This one is set to be a close and intriguing matchup. Both managers have been known to prefer a defensive approach at times so we may not see huge goal count, however it will definitely be a battle between two gifted tacticians. The bookies have tipped Chelsea as slight favourites at the weekend; to overcome this we think Mourinho will adopt a similar tactic to the fixture against Liverpool and approach the game with a plan to hold Chelsea to a draw rather than trying to play them off the park. Either way we think it will be a close encounter with not so many goals; whichever way you choose to bet try combining your selection with an under 2.5 goals margin.
