What a treat we have in store for us on Saturday afternoon. The late kick-off is a real meeting of giants, as Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge. City are currently top, while Chelsea are just three points behind, in third place. This should be a tight, but fascinating encounter, where we’ll get to see two genuine title contenders meet head on.
Chelsea followed last weekend’s emphatic 4-0 win against Stoke with a hugely impressive away win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The Blues are on a great unbeaten run since the first day of the season and seem to be getting stronger with each match. David Luiz is out through suspension, but Gary Cahill is available again. Eden Hazard is also nearing full match-fitness and Chelsea will be even more deadly with him in the team.
City appear unstoppable at the moment. Sixteen goals scored and none conceded in their last three league games tells most of the story, but they are also unbeaten in the league, having dropped points just once with a draw, and have also won their opening two Champions League matches. Sergio Agüero is the league’s top scorer, but City have so many options in attack, all of which are firing currently. It will be interesting to see if City set up with three or four at the back. They have lost Benjamin Mendy to injury, though Danilo should slot in as a direct replacement. Mendy’s power going forward may be missed, but this season, in contrast to last, the Citizens have at least two strong players for each position.
Chelsea will be without David Luiz, with the Brazilian still suspended after a red card against Arsenal a few weeks back. Gary Cahill returns from suspension and will likely be a straight swap.
Eden Hazard has played substitute roles in the last three league games and could start in this one, as he nears match fitness.
The biggest blow for Manchester City is that Bejamin Mendy is ruled out through injury. The extent of the damage is not yet known, but it’s rumoured he could be out for some time.
Vincent Kompany is nearing a return from a calf injury, but it looks unlikely that he will be back in time to start here.

- Surprisingly, Chelsea have only won once at home this season, after losing to Burnley and drawing to Arsenal.
- City are the highest scorers in the league with twenty-one goals in their six matches. They’ve also conceded just two.
- These two teams occupy first and second position in the discipline table. Chelsea have twelve yellow and three red cards, while City have twelve yellow and two red cards. Betting on cards could pay off here.
- City’s attacking talent means it’s difficult to pick who will start. Jesus was rested last week against Palace, while Agüero featured in that match and the Champions League.

Conclusion & Betting Tips
This is perhaps the match of the season so far, though both teams have already faced top opposition. Manchester City did away with Liverpool, but that was only afternoon Liverpool went down to ten men. Chelsea drew against Arsenal, although it must be said, that Arsenal looked the more likely side to win that game. However, Chelsea’s win away at Atletico on Wednesday shows that they can beat Europe’s elite.
It’s an incredibly tough one to call then, especially when picking who will win. But we feel that with both teams attacking prowess, they will both manage to score at least once. For that reason, we’ll be backing both teams to score at around 4/7 at bet365.
