Competition: The Premier League

Arsenal are in a very complicated situation in The Champions League. The Gunners desperately need an away victory against Olympiakos on Wednesday, in order to qualify for the 1/8 finals. So, they will have less resting time than Aston Villa. With so many injured players in the squad, this factor could seriously affect the performance of the team against The Lions on Sunday. Moreover, it is possible Arsenal will underestimate their opponents.

The Villains are not as bad as their results suggests. Despite them having only 1 victory in The Premier League this season, Aston Villa have enough quality players to avoid relegation. For this to happen, The Lions must start winning points as soon as possible. Because in the past, I can’t remember a team with 6 or less points after 15 rounds, that avoided relegation… Even Derby County, who hold the worst Premiership record had more points at this stage of the season in 2007.

Arsenal are a very tough opponent for Aston Villa. The Lions have won only 3 of the last 35 matches between these two teams. None of these three victories were at Villa Park, so traditionally Aston Villa aren’t successful against The Gunners at home.

Team News

Micah Richards has received a knee injury. The defender is sure to miss the match against Arsenal. He has 13 Premier League appearances so far.

Jose Crespo and Amavi are the other injured players in Aston Villa’s squad. Amavi’s injury is very serious and he is going to miss all the matches until the end of the season.

Alexis Sanchez is still not recovered from his hamstring problem. So, he will be sidelined for the visit to Villa Park.

Coquelin, Cazorla, Welbeck, Wilshere, Rosicky and Arteta are the other injured players in Arsene Wenger’s squad.
