All Sites Are Licensed by the Gambling Commission

We took on the challenge to assess all the mobile betting app offerings from the different bookmakers and considered what we as customers would want in an app such as; ease of use, as few touches as possible to place a bet, markets covered etc. We cover the criteria more in the next section but it turns out they all have their respective strengths and weaknesses. One app is great for football betting, an other gives you a great bonus to play with.

What Attributes Make a Good Betting App?

When reviewing apps and mobile websites we completed research by using criteria that we know matters to you! Quality, usability and many more attributes, the most important highlighted below.

  • Usability – We look at how easy an app is to use. From downloading, to placing a bet.
  • Range of markets – The markets on offer should be the same as you’d find on the desktop.
  • In-play options – We test to see if the in-play section is reliable, and features such as cash out are easy to use.
  • Licence – Each betting app must be fully licensed by the UKGC to feature here.

Even all the promotions in the world won’t be enough if a betting app doesn’t meet the customer’s needs. The most basic of them is to bet on sports fast, smooth and without any difficulties. That is where app navigation and features available come into the picture. It’s a subjective criterion, but our overall impression needs to be good. Still, at BestBettingSites we’re not sugar coating anything. Therefore, in all reviews (normal and mobile ones) you will find an honest evaluation of every app’s pros and cons.

Our Favourite Mobile Betting App

It’s pretty much industry consensus that the best betting app is bet365’s. We agree. It’s clear after over 600 hours worth of testing, across 35+ different apps, that they have an app that performs the best in terms of functionality, ease of use, and performance.

Other areas we found they stand out, easy navigation, and a seemless bet slip. All of our placed bets were easily accessed within a couple of clicks. Furthermore, cashing out was an easy process. There’s no need to go elsewhere, these guys know what they are doing.

Best Mobile App for Football Betting

Since you are reading this article it is very probable that you are deep into football and betting on it. If that is the case, you cannot go wrong with the aforementioned bet365 betting app. Even so, the rest of the betting sites also offer some great deals for the Premier League, and it is also true that Victor Chandler’s odds are unmatched by anyone. Just like the desktop version, there are no fancy colours or animations, but what you will love is their InstaBet feature. It actually is a separate app, which gives you enhanced odds on selected markets.

Top Betting Apps for Live Streaming

Ladbrokes Watch Events for 1p Best Live Console

When we talk about in-play betting and streaming, one betting operator stands out. Everyone knows about the quality of the Ladbrokes live betting services and they are equally as good with their mobile version. You will easily find anything you look for using the app, being it a withdrawal option, a live bet or a high-quality stream for your favourite team’s fixture.

Betiton Watch Horse Races Find All Markets

The mobile application of Betiton is another one to watch, regarding multimedia features. On the app you can watch nearly all horse races in the UK, as well as selected greyhound events. In addition to the live races broadcasting, BetVictor offer their top betting app services in a refreshing layout. You can also claim the bonus with the BetVictor app too!

Coral Watch Spanish La Liga Dutch Erdivisie Streaming

At a glance it may look like that betting at Coral on your mobile phone or tablet will give you nothing special, the reality is that their mobile version is one of the few that indeed supports the full functionality of the sportsbook. It is compatible not only with Android and Apple devices, but also can be run in browser mode on practically every modern mobile device. You can also watch races streamed on your mobile if you bet a minimum of £1 on them.

Do I Have to Download and Install an App?

By far the easiest way to place a bet whilst on your phone or tablet is simply by accessing the betting site of the company you wish to use on your mobile or tablet’s browser. The website will automatically detect you are on a mobile device and adapt the page to be optimised for the device you are using. This way requires no downloading and is quick and simple. Whilst not strictly an ‘app’ your experience will be as good if not better than the desktop version as the developers have made betting on the move as easy as a few taps on the screen. However apps are quicker, store your info, and are easily accessible. We’d go with downloading, but these days, you really don’t have to.

FAQ About the Best Betting Apps

In this section we cover some of the main questions that you may have that are not covered already on this page. Don’t forget that if you have a question that is not covered here then you can get in touch by emailing us at mailbag@bestbettingsites.co.uk or contact us by using the Facebook or Twitter icons at the foot of the page.

Can I use more than one app?

Yes, you may install as many apps as you wish. The only limit is storage space available on your device. As betting apps are usually very small in size this shouldn't really be an issue. Our team have just about every app installed on our devices and often rotate the one we use depending on the market we will bet on.

Can I claim a free bet using a mobile app?

All of our featured apps give new customers free bets or matched deposit bonuses, once you have created an account and made a deposit. Check out our table on our home page to see how much the different bookmakers will give you. Remember to check if any terms and conditions apply to these bonuses.

Are all markets available on the app?

Most of the websites have the full range of markets available, some however, have fewer markets on the mobile version and the apps. The offering at mobile sportsbook of BoyleSports is an example, and the Karamba sportsbook application doesn't have a fantastic range either. You can check this information by reading our in-depth mobile reviews on the bookmakers.

Is there a betting app with no minimum deposit?

All the operators have a minimum deposit of £5, this is possibly to reduce the bank charges they will incur. The minimum bet on the other hand varies and can be as low as 3p. (or whatever figure the live chat operators pluck out of thin air, it can also depend what mood they are in, I'm just glad they don't work in a hospital, “give him 10 shots of Morphine”, “it was 5 yesterday”, “I said 10!!!!”.) For low betting limits, checkout the payment options on the Betfred mobile sportsbook platform.

Which betting apps have live cash out option?

Of our featured mobile apps, most allow you to “cash out” your bets early if they are winning for a guaranteed return regardless of what the end result is. This does mean that the odds will of course be lower than if you do not cash out, however, it is a great feeling when you cash out and then a team scores meaning you would have won nothing.

Are promotions that are available on the full site available for mobile ?

Yes they are, and even some additional ones. They are present simply because the betting sites benefit from these offers same as you. They will credit you with a bonus to play with and meanwhile hopefully win you as a long-term customer, so it makes sense that they've made the promotions mobile-friendly. Beside the regular ones, some operators offer special mobile promotions, however these days it is a rare occurance.

Are there any bet exchange apps ?

The internet is vast and it's fair to say that you can find absolutely everything online, mobile bet exchanges included. Still, our goal is to help you get the ultimate betting apps experience, so we won't let you end up at some dubious overseas bookie. Spreadex is our only featured betting site that has bet exchange. We guarantee the quality of their services and you can also lay and back bets using your smartphone or tablet.

Which betting app is best for iPhone?

That largely depends on your personal preferences. All apps are similar in a way, but each of them has it's own strengths and weaknesses. For example, if live betting is your cup of tea than you should opt for bet365 mobile betting. In case you are into more fancy stuff and money-back specials, the LeoVegas mobile bookmaker is the right place for you. Our suggestion is that you check out the review pages we've prepared and choose a betting app that suits you best. Don't limit yourself, you can even sign up with more than one!

Which is the best betting app for Android devices?

It's a subjective matter. The things one looks for may be completely irrelevant to another person. However, Android users will be excited to claim the Grosvenor mobile app's free bet for mobile punters, which is available only for versions, such as Donut, Jellybean and Gingerbread. As Mr Green mobile is our overall winner you should definitely try it. It has a nice, user-friendly interface and there you will find any bet you need.

I want an android app rather than the mobile web version!

You may be a bit surprised to learn that Google doesn't allow betting apps on the Google Play app store but Apple will happily allow them on their App store. We contacted Google to ask why they don't allow them and received this reply,

”We don’t allow content or services that facilitate online gambling, including but not limited to, online casinos, sports betting and lotteries, or games of skill that offer prizes of cash or other value.”

But don't worry! There is a way to get all our recommended apps on your android device, it takes a few more taps but we will help you through the steps you need to take.

Here's how to do it:

From your smartphone or tablet running Android 4.0 or higher, go to Settings, scroll down to Security, and select Unknown sources. Selecting this option will allow you to install apps outside of the Google Play store. Depending on your device, you can also choose to be warned before installing harmful apps so don't be concerned if you do not see the 'verify apps' wording as shown in the picture below.

allow unknown sources on android

On devices running an earlier version of Android, go to Settings, open the Applications option, select Unknown sources, and click OK on the pop-up alert.

As Google play doesn't carry betting apps, we need to use another way of finding the app. For each of our reviews we will show you specific steps for each of the apps but generally it is the same for each of the companies.

Important!!! Before you follow these instructions, open an account with the bookmaker you want to deposit with.

  1. Open the Internet browser on your Android and go to getjar.com
  2. Search for the app at the top of the page.
  3. Click on Download.

We strongly recommend that once you have installed the app or apps that you require, you then return to settings and untick the box to allow unknown sources.

Is it safe to install from unknown sources?

Companies like Paddy Power refer their Android customers to the 'getjar' platform (getjar is an app store like Google Play but is not subject to the same terms and conditions). If the app is official and endorsed by the company then you should have no concerns regarding safety. However we strongly recommend you change your settings back after you have installed the app.

As a general rule, always avoid (even on Google Play) paid apps that appear free as many of these contain malware (short for malicious software) or viruses that can aid criminals to steal your personal information or corrupt data on your phone. Google Play automatically authorises app submissions without checking them so unfortunately there are some rogue apps out there.

GetJar is an independent mobile phone application store founded in 2004, more than 15 million people have used their store to download over 2.5 billion app downloads.
