Game details

Kick-off: Sunday, 4pm
Venue: White Hart Lane

Away form: WLLWD
Last season: 1-2
Competition: The Premier League

Spurs proved they are ‘the draw experts’, having finished with a level score on 8 occasions in 15 games this season. No matter Tottenham have lost just once, the number of draws is extremely high and in this late stage of the season Spurs will regret the missed opportunities. It won’t be a surprise if they end with another draw, this time against Newcastle.

The Magpies gained some confidence after the precious 2-0 victory over Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the last round of The Premiership. Georginio Wijnaldum was the key to the success, after ‘helping’ Skrtel to score an own goal and scoring in the last minute. He now has 7 goals from 15 games for Newcastle and is the team’s top goal-scorer. I am sure that he can make the difference against Tottenham on Sunday.

Moreover, Newcastle have recorded 20 victories at White Hart Lane from 65 games in total. Spurs have won 37 matches. It is interesting that there has been only 8 draws when Tottenham are the host team. So, I think it is time for the second Spurs defeat of the season, but it will be very difficult, because Newcastle’s performance is woeful away from home and there are 9 injured players in The Magpies’ squad.

Team News

Bentaleb, Mason and Pritchard are going to miss the game for Tottenham. Ryan Mason will be ready to play after a week.

Obertan, Taylor, Lascelles and Williamson, all have hamstring problems. The defender, Steven Taylor will resume full training in January.

The midfielder, Tiote, is suffering from a groin strain. He has played in 8 matches this season, but is sure to miss the visit to White Hart Lane.

Aarons, Haidara, Krul and Riviere are also injured for Newcastle. The Magpies can compete with Arsenal – these two teams have the highest number of injured players in The Premier League.

Quotes of the week
