Kick-off: Saturday, 3pm
Venue: The Stadium of Light
Coverage: Sky Sports 1, BBC 5 Live
Home form: LWLDL
Away form: WWDDW
Last season: 2-1
Competition: The Premier League

Sunderland to host Southampton in the12th round match of The English Premier League. This game seems to be another serious challenge for Sam Allardyce who took The Black Cats a couple of weeks ago. ‘Big Sam’ showed his ambitions were for his team to play nice direct and attacking football, but this style was punished by Everton’s counter-attack in the last round, when Sunderland lost 2-6.

On the other hand, Sunderland won 3-0 in their last home match against Newcastle, which was their first victory of the season. So, there is a huge improvement in The Black Cats performance. They look motivated enough to keep their place in this the most competitive league.

Southampton haven’t lost for five games now, recording 3 victories and two draws. The Saints won against Bournemouth, Swansea and Chelsea which is a very good record for them. In addition, they are showing very nice one-touch football and good crosses from the line, which brings them plenty of goals.

Team News

Sunderland defender, John O’Shea, is suffering from a hamstring problem and he was replaced by Wes Brown in the last match which was a decisive move resulting in a bad defensive performance.

Kaboul, Borini and Toivonen are also sidelined for The Black Cats. The French defender is suffering from a groin strain.

Three players are going to miss the match for Southampton: Rodriguez (ankle injury), Gardos (knee injury) and Forster (knee injury).

Victor Wanyama was sent off against Bournemouth and he is suspended for the visit to The Stadium of Light.
