Competition: The Premier League

After the win in their last match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, The Saints have now collected 12 points and are ninth in the standings. Southampton showed a great counter-attacking style against The Blues and Ronald Koeman will be happy if his team repeats it against Leicester at St. Mary’s on Saturday. Graziano Pelle found the back of Chelsea’s net; this was his fifth goal of the season; in addition, he assisted Davis, who scored the equalizer.

Leicester continued their excellent run in The Premier League and managed to beat, as guests, Norwich City 2-1 in the 8th round of The Premiership. That left Claudio Ranieri’s team occupying fifth spot. The The Foxes have lost only once this season; they’ve proved they will be competing for one of the qualifying places in the European club tournaments. Jamie Vardy just can’t stop scoring goals. He scored his seventh goal of the season against Norwich.

The Saints have won 14 from all 25 games between these two teams. There has been eight draws and just 3 away victories for Leicester; which goes to show the visitors have serious problems when playing at St. Mary’s.

Team News

Only Nathan Dyer and Matty James are on Leicester’s injury list. James will return to training in January.

Goalkeeper, Fraser Forster, is suffering from a knee injury and will be fit in April 2016. He hasn’t played since 22nd March 2015.

Jordy Clasie still can’t make his début for The Saints; he is suffering from a hamstring problem and there is no predicted date for his return to the pitch.

The last player missing the clash is Romanian defender Florin Gardos who’s also suffering from a knee injury. Gardos is expected to return in February.
