Competition: The Premier League

After having played 8 matches in The Premier League, Newcastle still haven’t recorded a victory. The Magpies have collected only three points ( 3 draws and 5 defeats). Their last match against Manchester City was disastrous; Newcastle were humiliated by The Citizens, losing 1-6 at The Etihad Stadium. After playing in such a game, the players are expected to be lacking in self-confidence, which is a must, to perform well on the pitch.

Despite Norwich’s defeat by Leicester in the last round of The Premiership, The Canaries played well throughout the match. Norwich City have lost just one game away from home this season (the visit to Southampton) and that’s proof of their good performance. Their new signing, striker Dieumerci Mbokani, scored a beautiful back-heel goal against Leicester finally showing his qualities. Now, he is expected to lead Norwich’s attack against The Magpies.

Norwich City are in for a hard time when they visit St. James’ Park. Newcastle haven’t lost in 14 of their 16 home games against The Canaries. The last Norwich away victory against Newcastle was on 17th Sep. 1988 when The Canaries won 2-0.

Team News

Only the striker Gary Hooper is suffering from an injury for Norwich and he is going to miss the visit to St. James’ Park.

Marveaux and Obertan have now recovered from their injuries and Steve McClaren can include them in Newcastle’s starting eleven.

Haidara and Riviere are long-term injured; both are suffering from a knee injury and are surely sidelined for the fixture. There are five more injured players in the Newcastle team. Colback (hamstring), Aarons (calf injury), Darlow (ankle injury), Taylor (knock) and Dummett (hamstring) can’t be used by the manager.

Tim Krul has suffered a season-wrecking knee injury that leaves Steve McClaren’s team without their top goalkeeper.
