Everyone was thinking that after the three consecutive victories in all tournaments for Chelsea, The Blues would start playing at the same level as they did at the end of last season. Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, was very angry with his players after the 2-2 draw at St. James’ Park. “The Special one” said that he had wanted to sub 6 of his players in the first half and the players’ ratings have to be -1 from 10. A few days passed and Chelsea lost again; this time The Blues lost to Porto 1-2 in The Champions League.

Eight points away from the first place doesn’t look so scary to Mourinho but if the performance of the Champions doesn’t improve, they can only dream about another title.

Contrary to Mourinho’s mood, Ronald Koeman has reason to be happy with his team’s performance. The Saints have lost just one of their last 5 games and recorded 2 victories and 2 draws. Now Southampton are lying 10th in the standings, one point in front of last season’s Champions Chelsea.

Team News

“The Special one” still can’t use his striker Diego Costa who was suspended after the match against Arsenal. He will be available for the game against Aston Villa.

Thibaut Courtois is suffering from a knee injury. The Belgian international goalkeeper is expected to return to the pitch in December.

Steven Caulker is again ill and can’t take part in the match. The defender has played in just one Southampton game so far.

Clasie, Gardos and Forster are still recovering from their injuries and they surely will be sidelined for the upcoming fixture.
