Venue: Villa Park
Coverage: Sky Sports 1, BBC 5 Live
Home form: LLDDL
Away form: LDDWW
Last season: 0-0
Competition: The Premier League

This is one of the worst seasons of Aston Villa’s history. The Villains have won only 1 match so far (against Bournemouth in the first round of the competition) and haven’t recorded a victory for 19 consecutive matches in The Premier League. The Lions have lost 14 matches, which means they have collected only 8 points after 20 rounds and they will surely be heading to The Championship at the end of the season.

Remi Garde’s players lost 1-3 against one of their competitors in the battle to stay in The Premiership, this very important match was against Sunderland. The Black Cats, who are lying in 19th position are now 7 points in front of Villa. The only positive thing from the previous Villains’ match was Charles Gil’s goal. The Spaniard’s shot was a pure masterpiece. But, apart for that moment, Aston Villa are only showing negative things, especially in defence; the worst in the league.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace have serious problems in attack. The Eagles haven’t scored a goal in three consecutive Premier League matches. Palace have failed to score in 8 from 20 league games this season. Moreover, Pardew’s players were smashed 0-3 at home against Chelsea in the last round. In addition, two of The Eagles’ forwards are injured. So, Aston Villa have a real chance to earn some points from this match.

Team News

The ex Nice player Jordan Amavi is suffering from an ACL knee ligament injury and won’t be available until the end of the season.

Gary Gardner and Carlos Sanchez are also injured for The Villains. The Colombian international is having a hamstring problem and won’t take part in the match.

The attackers Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle are both injured for Crystal Palace. Wickham will return to full training at the end of the month.

Yannick Bolasie, who is one of the key players for Palace this season (4 goals and 1 assist) is suffering from a calf muscle strain and is expected to return to the pitch on 24th January.
